SERI's 26th Anniversary International Symposium - "Fostering Top Talent in Science and Technology"
To mark its 26th anniversary, SERI jointly hosted an international symposium entitled "Fostering Top Talent in Science and Technology," with the National Commission of Science and Technology (NSTC). With experts from Japan, Israel and Singapore as well as SERI's own researchers, the symposium was aimed at exchanging and discovering effective ways to foster the next generation leaders in science and technology.
The day's event opened with welcoming remarks from SERI President Chung Ki Young and a congratulatory speech by the Chairman of the NSTC, Kim Doh Yeon. In the first session, "Strategy for Fostering Top S&T Talent: Difficulties and Countermeasures," Dr. Yutaka Kato from Japan's Doshisha University, Dr. Isser Peer from Israel's Bar-Ilan University and Dr. Mun-Heng from the National University of Singapore each presented insights into their respective countries' strategy in fostering talent in the field of science and technology. SERI research fellows Young-Il Bae, Seong-O Bae and Jin-Young Choi provided an overview of Korea's current status and future in the second session, "How to Develp S&T Talent for the Future of Korea." The symposium finally closed with a panel discussion.
