Since the 1990s, multinational corporations have become more global in their strategies in locating their R&D centers, in efforts to secure talents and develop new markets. The main beneficiaries in this change are emerging-market nations such as India and China, which are pursuing fast industrialization based on technologies and know-how learned from the process. Not to be outdone by competing nations in Asia, Korea has joined this clamber for attracting world-class R&D centers, hosting a total of 898 foreign R&D entities to date.
