As food safety rises as a major issue and the prospects for e-agriculture becomes brighter, IT companies including software and information service providers and telecommunications companies are increasingly entering into the e-agriculture market mostly receiving aid from the government. The government supports the enlargement of the market with aggressive support especially for intelligent monitoring, food traceability systems and e-commerce. And investment in e-agriculture by the government and companies has soared. However, there are obstacles to growth as it requires large investments and long return on investment period and production costs are high. The government's role will be crucial in nurturing the industry which will create jobs and higher income.
