Korea is opening a new age of convergence between broadcasting and telecommunications. With the launch of satellite digital mobile broadcasting (S-DMB) service by TU-Media, a subsidiary of SK Telecom in charge of satellite broadcasting business, on May 1, 2005, Korea's three main over-the-air broadcasters - KBS, MBC, and SBS - will begin terrestrial mobile broadcasting (T-DMB) in July. At the same time, three consortiums - KMMB, Korea DMB, and YTN DMB - will also introduce T-DMB service later this year.
