The Bank of Korea (BOK) reported that Korea’s current account balance posted a surplus of US$6.77 billion in July. The current account has remained in the black for 18 straight months since February last year when the balance shifted to a surplus. However, the surplus narrowed compared to June’s US$7.24 billion, which can be attributed to the services and income account showing a smaller surplus, and the current transfers account turning to a deficit.
