Industrial output contracted in September weighed by labor strikes at leading automakers and the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holiday break. According to Statistics Korea, production in the mining, manufacturing, gas and electricity industries fell 2.1% from a month earlier in September, reversing from a 1.6% rise in August. Compared to a year earlier, output dropped 3.6% after rising 3.2% in the previous month.
