Corporate direct financing rose sharply from the previous month. According to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), domestic firms raised 10.83 trillion won in funds through direct financing in September, up 23% from August. Their issuance of stocks declined while their bond issuances increased during the period. The amount of stocks issued slumped 13.3% month-on-month to log 76 billion won. There were three cases of initial public offerings (IPO) totaling 49.7 billion won and three rights issuances worth 26.3 billion won in September. Corporate bond issuances expanded 23.4% to 2.38 trillion won based on the US Federal Reserve's decision to continue its stimulus measures and the resultant drops in bond yields.
